International Women’s Day

March 10th. A great start to the week! ⁦ For International Women’s Day we had three inspirational role models : our Bishop Debbie Sellin, Nadia Tikhonova (who talked about challenges facing Ukrainian women) and Tracy Moores on her career and business. The event underlined the importance of self belief. ⁦

Young Musicians in Oakham

March 8th. Oakham School chapel ⁦was the venue for a hugely professional concert by local musicians of the Rutland Sinfonia. The event also showcased two outstanding young musicians who were given the experience & opportunity to perform with a full orchestra.

An opening at the University of Leicester

March 7th: For the first time a Leicester University building has been named after a woman! The schools of archaeology ancient history & museum studies has been named after the leading archaeologist Dame Kathleen Kenyon – a great way to mark international women’s day.

Rutland County Service

March 2nd 2025: Celebrating Rutland at our county service yesterday. Thanks to ⁦ Peterborough Cathedral, our High Sheriff, the many people who attended and all voluntary groups involved.

A visit to Brooke Priory School

Feb 26th: I had an opportunity to talk ⁦to the pupils of Brooke Priory School about the role of the Monarchy & the Lieutenancy. It was a great pleasure to meet the head girl & head boy and the headmaster.

Support for Ukraine

Feb 26th: The third anniversary of the start of the Ukrainian war was marked yesterday evening at Rutland Museum, supported by Rutland’s High Sheriff and the Ukrainian Rotary Impact Group.

We had a moving & fascinating evening with a film and talks about Ukraine, its history and its recent problems.

A new resource for adults with special needs

Feb 20th. There’s a great opportunity for young adults with special needs at Support and Connections Oakham. The new facility was opened today ⁦by Alicia Kearns MP⁩.

Delicious cakes, great woodwork, recycling and more. The centre engages attendees and gives self respect & happiness. ⁦

Come to Rutland’s County Service!

Rutland’s biennial County Service will be at our ancient diocesan cathedral of Peterborough on March 2nd at 3.30pm.

Please attend this biannual service with the High Sheriff of Rutland and me.

The cathedral holds 2000 so let’s fill it, to show our support for our wonderful county!
