Open Day at Uppingham Fire Station

August 25th: Firefighters have to have a head for heights! Glad to join firefighter Pete on 30metre high platform above #Uppingham & hear about their varied work saving lives and buildings. Parttime firefighters required in Uppingham apply at fire station.

The team demonstrated what NOT to do with a fat fire (do not throw water on it)! We were advised to call 999 and get out of the house. My video (click on the link below) does not do it justice – I was unprepared for just how high the flames would go!

Wedding history exhibition in Uppingham

24th August: I had a fascinating trip through wedding fashion history in Uppingham St Peter & St Paul church. All local stories. Pictured is Vicar Rachel next to her wedding dress. A stunning one from Singapore; there are many others. Thanks to all the organisers.

Rutland cadets annual camp

August 15th: It was a pleasure to see our cadets in action at the annual Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Camp; this year at Merrion in Pembrokeshire. Adventure, qualifications, learning to be part of team, showing leadership skills – all are acquired by cadets at camp. ⁦

The cadets have a brilliant time and enhance their future prospects. Thanks to adult volunteers & staff – a great visit.

Life savers!

August 5th: How often do you meet someone who has returned from death? A pleasure to meet Dave Francis & family with the young lifeguards George Pollard & Reuben Hutchinson who saved his life by performing CPR. Despite the fact that he was out on the water at the time he collapsed! They are keen to thank their great training ⁦from the Aqua Park Group⁩ and support from Air Ambulances UK.
