24th January: The Spanish first wife of Henry VIII, Katharine of Aragon, is buried in beautiful Peterborough Cathedral. Her death is commemorated each year with moving service, a procession from St John’s church and many local children dressed in Tudor costume. Rutland is proud to belong to the diocese.
22nd January – A lecture theatre at Uppingham School became a magistrates’ court today for a mock trial supervised by real magistrates. Fascinating to see how the justice system works & for audience & participants to arrive at a verdict.
Thanks to the magistrates who volunteered and orchestrated the event.
25th December: Happy Christmas from all the girls of the Furness family!
Me, Felicity, little Lottie (10 weeks) and Flossie the dog.
17th December: What a year group & what academic musical sporting & dramatic talents! Congratulations to all. Harington School is now an absolutely outstanding 6th form college with pupils’ achievements that could be the envy of most schools across the country – all achieved in 4 years.
14th December: I go to a lot of carol concerts in the weeks before Christmas, but this one was special – in that icon of Rutland, Normanton Church on the edge of Rutland Water. In support of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme
@EMICS999 . The path to the venue was very suitably lit using little blue flashing lights!
14th December: A great way to burn off calories, get fit & raise funds for good causes -Oakham Rutland Rotary Club’s Santa Run . Can you spot our High Sheriff? Thanks & congratulations to all especially those who ran!
Apologies, I’ve not managed to keep this blog up to date over Christmas, New Year, and subsequent attacks of unpleasant viruses…
But now it’s catch-up time!
