24th January: The Spanish first wife of Henry VIII, Katharine of Aragon, is buried in beautiful Peterborough Cathedral. Her death is commemorated each year with moving service, a procession from St John’s church and many local children dressed in Tudor costume. Rutland is proud to belong to the diocese.
Learning about Justice
22nd January – A lecture theatre at Uppingham School became a magistrates’ court today for a mock trial supervised by real magistrates. Fascinating to see how the justice system works & for audience & participants to arrive at a verdict.
Thanks to the magistrates who volunteered and orchestrated the event.

Carols at Normanton Church
14th December: I go to a lot of carol concerts in the weeks before Christmas, but this one was special – in that icon of Rutland, Normanton Church on the edge of Rutland Water. In support of the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme @EMICS999 . The path to the venue was very suitably lit using little blue flashing lights!
We all left the concert feeling full of Christmas music & good cheer. Thanks to Rutland Choral for a wonderful performance. Fabulous setting on Rutland Water .
