Oct 3rd – Rutland has many stunning medieval churches. Ryhall’s St John’s church is 800 years old. I joined the local community to celebrate the birthday (with cake!) of the tower’s oldest bell, which was cast 400 years ago in the reign of King Charles l at the Tobias Norris foundry in Stamford. Thanks to good maintenance and Ryhall’s bell-ringers it’s still ringing!

A new RAF memorial
Sept 23rd: Rutland now has a memorial to its rich RAF Air Force history. It was an honour to unveil a memorial bench next to our Queen Elizabeth statue in Oakham. A second memorial bench for the armed forces was unveiled by Rutland’s High Sheriff. Our Queen Elizabeth garden is a great meeting place so I’m sure the benches will be well used.
Greetham Festival
Sept 12th: A great pleasure to join our High Sheriff to cut a ribbon & declare Greetham Festival open! Thanks to all who have worked so hard to make this community event such a success. The music, beer & cider will go on long into the evening. Good to be joined by Rutland Morris. A lovely English community celebration. And an RAF fly-past!
