April 2nd – I participated in the annual ceremony at Oakham Castle to install a new High Sheriff of Rutland.
We celebrated the outstanding service given by the outgoing High Sheriff, Colonel Richard Chesterfield, and witnessed the swearing-in of the new High Sheriff, Mrs Susannah Fish OBE QPM.
April 12th. The Revd Jane Baxter, rector of #Lyddington, Bisbrooke, Caldecott, Glaston, Harringworth, Stoke Dry, Seaton &Thorpe by Water, and also & #Rutland’s Rural Dean, retired with a beautiful service yesterday. Thanks for more than two decades of service.
March 30th. Glad to welcome new British citizens from Australia, Spain, Greece, Philippines & Canada at a special ceremony in Oakham. Thanks also to our Rutland registrars.
March 28th. Why travel to London when you can enjoy world class music in Rutland? Thanks to all in the Rutland Choral Society, the professional soloists & Raikes Consort. They gave an outstanding performance of Handel’s Messiah last night. My goodness Oakham deserves to be voted ‘Town of Culture’.
March 23rd. The origins of Rutland go back to Roman times. I attended a great exhibition at All Saints Church, Oakham and was glad to join the first Oakham Anglo-Saxon Trail guided walk. Saw Oakham with new eyes!
March 20th. Thanks to Uppingham Rotary & the Rotary Ukrainian impact club for their great efforts running the schools technology day! Great fun and good experience for all but the pupils were set a really difficult task!
