April 23rd: A musical treat! Thanks to Ridgeway Chorale, supported by an excellent quintet from Catmose College. St Andrew’s Whissendine’s great acoustics & stunning architecture made an excellent venue. Funds were raised for ’ForRutland‘ & St Andrew’s Church.
QGC at Rutland Water
We added to the Queen’s Green Canopy today with a ceremonial planting of an oak tree at Rutland Water, courtesy of Anglian Water. They have already planted over 2,000 trees this year for QGC. What a lot is done for the environment. The wildflower meadow will be stunning soon.
Oakham War Memorial re-dedication
April 10th – The war memorial at All Saints Church Oakham was re-dedicated today for the future, marking the centenary of its erection in 1922. The standard of the Royal British Legion Oakham was laid up & a new standard for the renamed Rutland British Legion was dedicated. Thanks to all, especially the Royal Anglians who attended.
Hambleton Bakery expansion
April 7th: Proper bread, made traditionally (the slow way), is the hallmark of Hambleton Bakery. They are now an award-winning Rutland institution. A new bigger bakery was opened today near Greetham by our MP Alicia Kearns. Congratulations to all.
Rutland’s next High Sheriff
April 6th: The annual installation of the High Sheriff at Oakham Castle. Congratulations to David Wood (left) on concluding a great year. Delighted to welcome Geoff Thompson to the High Sheriff role for 2022-3.
