27th June – Celebrating ⁦Uppingham Community College’s 105 anniversary as 700 students walk 10.5km to raise money for charities. Congratulations!

June 24th – I was delighted to join a large congregation to mark the 50th anniversary of the construction of St Joseph’s Catholic church in Oakham, Rutland.

June 24: We raised the flag in Rutland for ⁦Armed Forces Day,⁩ at Oakham Castle. Thanks to ⁦ Rutland Council⁩ , Rutland’s High Sheriff and the 1st Military Working Dogs. There was a great turnout.

June 20th – Royal Air Force⁩ veteran Chris highlights veterans’ need & raises money ⁦⁦for CombatStress. Chris arrived at Tesco Oakham on 500 mile fundraising Tesco-sponsored walk from Tesco Edinburgh to Tesco headquarters Welwyn Garden City. He was carrying a 3kg medicine ball the whole way and was still achieving about 55,000 steps per day !

Heroic!

June 19th – Leicestershire & Rutland School Games took place today. 800+ youngsters enjoyed being active & trying new experiences. It was a pleasure to meet the organisers and many of the participants.

June 16th – There was a festival atmosphere at Kendrew barracks as 440 cyclists rode around Rutland’s villages, either 25, 50 or 100 miles, as part of ⁦an RAF Association⁩ event to promote wellbeing & raise funds to help serving forces, veterans & families! A great day.

June 2nd – It is always a great privilege to welcome new citizens, in this case from Syria, China, Bulgaria & ⁦USA⁩ to our county and country.

2nd June – So much to do & see at our wonderful ⁦Rutland Show, including⁩ fairground stalls selling country products and all sorts of competitions; fun for all ages. Thanks to all who took part and for the hard work of all organisers. A great day out for all in Rutland.

May 31st – Coronation Anthems by Handel sung beautifully by a large team of Rutland volunteers, including support from the Rutland Youth Choir and Oakham School. Thanks are due to David Hill (conductor, trainer and organiser) & Anne Bolt (pianist).

All Saints Church, Oakham provided a magnificent setting.

All in aid of the church’s lighting appeal, which has now achieved its goal!

May 29th – 30th anniversary celebration of Rutland Sailability! The scheme enables those with disabilities to sail & compete on equal ‘footing’ to the able-bodied. It transforms lives. Rutland’s group pioneered this form of disability sailing . Thanks to volunteers, donors and members, ⁦RYA⁩ ⁦and Anglian Water.
