Our cathedral in crisis

Jan 13th. Peterborough Cathedral is Rutland’s cathedral, even though it is not within Rutland’s boundary. Rising costs mean that in spite of the services, concerts, celebrations & community events held ⁦in Peterborough Cathedral it still needs financial support. The problem has now hit the national news as the cathedral annouced that it may not be able to openits doors to visitors every day.

It was heartening to meet people from across the diocese (Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Rutland) who are determined to help.⁩

The Dean sadly explaining the problem to us, in the glorious setting of Peterborough Cathedral

Rutland Festival of Remembrance Concert

Nov 8th: A successful fundraising concert was held at Rutland Hall Hotel for the benefit of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We were treated to many magnificent performances from pupils at all of Rutland’s secondary schools, including the Uppingham Pipe Band (below) and the Cadet Corps band. There were also interviews with senior military personnel from Rutland’s defence force bases, revealing what life is like in the armed forces that defend our country.
