A tree to celebrate links with Japan
January 24th: Delighted to be at Brooke Hill Academy to help the school’s environmentalists & gardeners plant a Japanese flowering cherry tree as part of the Sakura project celebrating friendship between Britain and Japan. This tree also counted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy and Platinum Jubilee 2022.

21st December – Just broken my foot! So frustrating with so much to do before Christmas but the NHS at Leicester Royal Infirmary have been utterly brilliant, courteous, thorough and all in spite of being so busy really efficient. Thanks to all!
Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
The Queen’s Award For Voluntary Service is a great honour – the highest a voluntary group can achieve. The award to Rutland Rotaract Family Support Centre is only the second in Rutland. It was a privilege to award Pippa Owen (leader) with the Crystal and a certificate signed by Her Majesty.
Oakham Late Night Shopping
13th December: A Great evening Late Night shopping in Oakham tonight. Thanks to all the organisers @OakhamLateNight. Good to see lots of people having fun, including the Mayor and family.
Renovated Church Window
This stunning window of St Andrew’s Church, Hambleton, Rutland has been reinstalled having been beautifully renovated thanks to Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust & a private donor. There was a service of celebration on 12th December 2021.
