March 28th. Why travel to London when you can enjoy world class music in Rutland? Thanks to all in the Rutland Choral Society, the professional soloists & Raikes Consort. They gave an outstanding performance of Handel’s Messiah last night. My goodness Oakham deserves to be voted ‘Town of Culture’.
March 23rd. The origins of Rutland go back to Roman times. I attended a great exhibition at All Saints Church, Oakham and was glad to join the first Oakham Anglo-Saxon Trail guided walk. Saw Oakham with new eyes!
March 20th. Thanks to Uppingham Rotary & the Rotary Ukrainian impact club for their great efforts running the schools technology day! Great fun and good experience for all but the pupils were set a really difficult task!
August 16th: Fabulous plants, all things garden related – and some not! Full of temptations, great food stalls, and fun for kids all at Rutland’s first Flower Show, hosted at the Rutland Showground in Oakham. What a great asset for Rutland! Let’s hope it becomes an annual event. Congratulations to the organisers.
PS for sticklers- the horseshoe does have the correct number of nail-holes, honest. But the seventh is covered by the flowers!
August 1st – Accounts of heroic actions by serving police & members of the public were inspirational at the Chief Constable’s Commendation Ceremony today.
Thanks to all who keep us safe – saving lives, delivering babies, preventing crime & dealing with the after effects of it.
July 28th: Welcoming new citizens is always a pleasure. Today people from Romania, Brazil, Hungary, Malaysia, Turkey, The Gambia & Algeria swore their oaths of allegiance to His Majesty.
July 21st: Delighted to pop around to Amanet, a great Rutland business to congratulate them on achieving Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, part of the Armed Forces Covenant. Amanet do much to support our military community and veterans. It is richly deserved.

27th June – Celebrating Uppingham Community College’s 105 anniversary as 700 students walk 10.5km to raise money for charities. Congratulations!
June 24th – I was delighted to join a large congregation to mark the 50th anniversary of the construction of St Joseph’s Catholic church in Oakham, Rutland.
