April 7th: Proper bread, made traditionally (the slow way), is the hallmark of Hambleton Bakery. They are now an award-winning Rutland institution. A new bigger bakery was opened today near Greetham by our MP Alicia Kearns. Congratulations to all.
April 6th: The annual installation of the High Sheriff at Oakham Castle. Congratulations to David Wood (left) on concluding a great year. Delighted to welcome Geoff Thompson to the High Sheriff role for 2022-3.

April 2nd: Royal Jubilee Tree planting in Whissendine Sports Ground. I was so pleased to meet Brownies & Guides planting whips as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.
50 trees went in this afternoon!

March 17th: Congratulations to Cottesmore, Greetham, Stretton and the generous donors who have planted trees along the road side to mark Her Majesty’s #Platinum Jubilee.
March 11th: Planting a beautiful evergreen oak at the edge of Oakham’s Centenary Field to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, with Deputy Mayor Jean Denyer , as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy. Thanks to Oakham Town.
March 10th: A Young Leaders Conference by Resilient Rutland was hosted at Uppingham School, with youth ambassadors from Harington School, Oakham School and Uppingham Community College, supported by The National Lottery. Congratulations to all involved in improving well being through school communities.
March 8th – There was sunshine in Uppingham for International Women’s Day thanks to Uppingham Rotary. A breakfast meeting was held at The Falcon Hotel. Great organisation by President Shane James & Margaret Simpson; inspirational talks by Chris Emmett, Sandra Pollock & Maggy Herbert-Johnson.
So delighted that Ali Wainwright of Rutland’s foodbank has been awarded MBE at Windsor Castle. Richly deserved, especially for all she did through the covid pandemic to help those in need.
