Apologies, I’ve not managed to keep this blog up to date over Christmas, New Year, and subsequent attacks of unpleasant viruses…
But now it’s catch-up time!
Santa was ready to greet all as they arrived at Leicester Cathedral for the Police & Fire Rescue carol concert for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland. It was fabulously festive to sing carols with lots of strong voices & a good choir. Thanks for inviting me.
December 9th – Late night Christmas shopping in Oakham was a buzz on Monday night! Thanks to all the shops & stalls, also to Oakham Castle and Rutland Radio – great fun!
December 4th: At the opening of a designated quiet room at Brooke Hill Academy; thanks to Resilient Rutland & donor Warners Printers . A great space to help children.
December 4th: The great outdoors is wonderfully good at lifting our spirits. Today we had a great time at Lagoon 4, Rutland Water with Rutland Council’s Admiral Nurses, Time in nature with Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust at RutlandWater with a group making memories – Dementia UK and Age UK Leics. Thanks to all volunteers and donors.
December 4th – we had an evening packed with Christmas music & carols by Rowell Camerata & Foresters Brass, with moving readings from LarsTharp, Rev. Richard Coles, Anne Davies (BBC East Midlands Today) Tim Hart (of Hambleton Hall) Christopher Villiers & others. It was a great treat and a great fundraiser for the NSPCC. A huge thanks is due to Margaret Wheeler for masterminding the event.
December 1st – We had a lovely civic celebration held by the Mayor & Mayoress of Oakham, at Oakham’s Parish Church. I so enjoyed the wonderful singing by children from Catmose Primary school, and & reading ‘The Night Before Christmas’ to them.
December 1st: The Christmas lights are on in Oakham! Great fun in the market square with stalls & rides for children – and the tree is beautiful! Thanks to Oakham Town Council.
Nov 29th: ‘Knight School’ helps Rutland children aged 6/7 with lessons that can make them happier & more successful for life. At Oakham Castle I was proud to Knight girl & boy graduates, together with Rutland’s High Sheriff. Congratulations to all & many thanks to the helpers.
