During the extended Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, you and your community will have plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Community Decorations Week 23rd– 27th May
We would love you and your community will decorate your village, street and home with bunting and flags to show the festive spirit of Rutland.
We’d love to see local businesses getting involved too, whether you work in retail, hospitality or even manufacturing, decorate your premises, shop windows and outside spaces to encompass the best of British spirit.
Beacon Lighting Thursday 2nd June
There is a long tradition in our country of celebrating royal festivities, such as jubilees, weddings and coronations, with the lighting of beacons.
As part of the Platinum Jubilee weekend, there will be organised Beacon Lighting in Oakham and Uppingham. If you and your community would like to organise your own Beacon Lighting, Pageantmaster Bruno Peek has produced a useful step-by-step guide to help you safely put together your own event. Please note that you must register your involvement no later 1st June 2022 by following the guidance on page 10 of this booklet.
Music Night Friday 3rd June
We are hoping to hold organised music events in Oakham and Uppingham, featuring local bands and dance groups, as well as showcasing local arts and crafts.
If you or someone you know would like the opportunity to perform a dance or music piece, we’d love for you to get in touch. Please contact me via email at LL@rutlandlordlieutenant.org

The Big Jubilee Lunch Sunday 5th June
